TP-Link Tapo C120 (2K QHD Indoor/Outdoor)
The value champion. A weather-rated 2K camera for around thirty dollars that records to microSD with no fee and can sit indoors on a shelf or clip under an eave. Hard to beat on price per feature.
What we like
- 2K QHD at a rock-bottom price
- Weather-resistant — works indoors or under cover outside
- microSD recording, no subscription
Trade-offs
- Outdoor use is wired, so placement is near an outlet
- No battery option

Lease-Safe: Good. Indoors it stands on a shelf with no holes. Outdoors it uses a small bracket you can adhesive-mount under an eave; the wired power run is the only thing to plan around.
Spec note. TP-Link publishes 2K resolution and IP-rated weather resistance. Power is wired, so outdoor placement is limited by outlet reach.
